In Rowde there are two pubs serving food. The George and Dragon and Cross Keys, both of which serve food with the exception of Sunday nights.
Art Studio's
The Botanical artist Ann Swan, has her studios here in Rowde. She runs art courses and has items for sale.
Footpaths
There are many lovely walks around the Rowde area. If you wish to do more than just stroll around the village, we will be happy to advise or lend a map. You can even borrow an umbrella from the stand in the hallway, for the duration of you stay, if needed.
Geocaching
This area is wonderful for geocaching with almost a 1000 caches hidden within a 10 mile radius of Vine Cottage! The countryside is lovely and regardless of the weather you will be able to find numerous hunting opportunities in either a rural or urban setting.

Eating
There are numerous places to eat in Devizes, ranging from Witherspoons to top class restuarents.
We have copies of menues from establishments we recommend in the area.
Entertainment
Devizes still boasts its own Cinema and bingo hall.
There is a nightclub at the Corn Exchange in the Market Place and one behind The Old Crown on New Park Street.
The Bear Hotel has a Jazz bar on Friday and Saturday nights – with a small entry fee.
The Wharf Theatre stages various plays throughout the year, please see brochure for current events.

OUT AND ABOUT
From our central location we are within easy reach of the ancient sites of Stonehenge, Avebury and Silbury hillsee the Visit Wiltshirefor more information on Wiltshires Heritage attractions.
The following visitor attractions are all within a ten minute drive:-
Wadworth Breweryhas a visitor centre and conducts brewery tours on week days. The afternoon tour also often includes a visit to the Shire horse stables after they have made their moring deliveries in Devizes.
Caen Hill LocksThe famous flight of 29 locks at Caen Hill on the Kennet and Avon canal are just a 15 minute walk away.
BowoodHouse and golf course is worth a visit for you golfers or just to walk around the beautiful house and gardens.
Longleat -The world famous Longleat house and safari park home of the TV series animal park is within a 45 minute drive.
The cities of Bath, Bristol and Salisbury and Swindon town are all less than an hours drive.
Walkers and cyclists are welcome to stay with us as you explore the terrific byways and footpaths that abound in Wiltshire. The Wessex Ridgeway and Wansdyke Path are just two of the more well known and from the top of Roundway Hill the Vale of Pewsy will open out before you in all its glory. We have a drying cupboard and secure storage for cycles in the garage.
